I know, it’s not very exciting to think or talk about tooth and gum health, but consider the alternative – losing your teeth or having poor dental health.  Yuck!  All will be better if you do as I and start using the $60 WP-100 Water Pik Water Flosser daily.

What’s Hot?

Everything, really.

What’s Not?

Making the time and effort commitment to use it daily when home.  Get past this and it’s smooth sailing ahead.

In about one minute, if your experience is anything like mine and others using this device with whom I have spoken, you will feel the difference even after the first use.  Then, when you visit your dentist for bi-annual teeth cleaning, your hygienist and dentist will be oh, so pleased with your healthy gums and the lack of dental plaque as compared with prior to using your Water Pik.

Sure, brushing is critical, and you know you really should floss, but let’s face it, flossing for most of us is just not something we enjoy.  In addition, most of us do this either incorrectly or ineffectively.  Take the guess-work out of flossing and switch to one of these.  Flossing with a water jet as supplied by this Water Pik Water Flosser gets between teeth and the gum line better, more effectively and, in my view much more easily than with traditional flossing.

After you floss, if you floss, does your mouth feel great?  Doubtful.  That’s why I am sold on this gadget – my teeth and gums never felt better and I know I am doing a better job of eradicating dental plaque, now known to be a living organism, a biofilm of living yuck coating the teeth. I read a study conducted by the USC Center for Biofilms (I’m a proud USC graduate, too!) in which water flossing was shown to remove 99.99% of this disgusting and harmful salivary biofilm.  Conventional flossing cannot come close to this degree of effectiveness.

Well, that was good enough for me.  The combination of that great mouth feel and the knowledge that with such a simple daily regimen I am doing what’s best for my oral cavity (yes, my mouth) is all I need to know.

Now that I have switched to the Water Pik Water Flosser, when I use any conventional floss, it’s just not the same and not as good nor effective.  I NEVER get that great mouth feel after conventional flossing.

What is this mouth feel?  After discussing this with the professionals, the good feeling is the result of the gum stimulation that occurs under the pulsating jets of water from the device.  The standard tip is all I need, though there are six tips provided with each Water Pik Water Flosser. These include two standard Jet Tips, a Tongue Cleaner, a Pik Pocket which your dental professional might recommend for delivering therapeutic rinses into gum pockets, an Orthodontic Tip for cleaning hard-to-reach places around dental work and braces, and a Toothbrush tip for those who would like to brush and water floss at the same time.

In my experience, the standard Jet Tip is all I use and as for brushing, I use a competitor’s product – a Sonicare Flex Care product about which I have previously written.  Now, I believe I have and can recommend to you the best one-two punch for daily oral care.

If you have “issues” with flossing due to tightness between teeth so that using conventional floss often results in broken string, or if you already have some form of gum disease and you are not yet using either or both of these products, consult with your dental professional about a Water Pik Water Flosser.  It’s easier and more effective, so why not go for it as I did?

This can be the start of a better relationship with your mouth!  Get extra tips to share the device with the family, each with his or her own appropriate tip or tips.

Note that this Water Flosser features an adjustable stream. Feel free to start with the lowest pressure and work up to max. In my case, I went right to the strongest setting without any adverse affect.  The company backs their device with a two-year warranty, as well.

Now that I have told my story, the ONLY area not addressed is travel.  No, this is NOT convenient for use while on the road.  The company offers a cordless model, which I have not yet tried.  As time and opportunity permit, I may give that one a try and report, but it’ll have to wait until after more pressing assignments and projects are concluded.

To sweeten the deal, please do not overlook money saving coupons on the Water Pik site – here.  Where can this Water Pik be purchased?  Online as well as at just about all major retailers, including most of the big box stores, drug and discount stores about which we are all familiar.
