So many places from which to choose! Sure, there are traditional shops at malls and individual shops in every neighborhood.  Recently, I visited my local CVS/Pharmacy on the hunt for more than pharmaceuticals and came away with renewed respect for this venerable retailer.

You know, they’re everywhere, with over 7,000 locations all across America!  It’s not difficult to find a CVS/Pharmacy that’s not far from most areas in the country.  And I checked them out online, as well.  I stop in regularly, but not with the idea of reporting as was my recent mission.  I don’t remember when it was that the “pharmacy,” whether CVS or the other big names in the business, became a shopping destination?  From groceries, specials on odds and ends, even milk and ice cream, to aisles and aisles of great gift ideas, that’s what’s inside your local CVS/Pharmacy today.

If you have not already done so, sign up for their FREE “ExtraCare” program for discounts and access to lots of specials for which you can receive notification via email, of course. And the savings can be substantial.

And there is online shopping, too.  For gifting ideas under $30 from CVS/Pharmacy, here are some suggestions.

Upload photos to www.cvsphoto.com to create a photo gift, including a travel mug, tie, playing cards or a custom cover photo book, shown below.  Not yet a member?  Join.  It’s FREE and you’ll get 50 free prints when you join, free photo storage, the ability to share photos with friends and family, and FREE shipping to your local CVS/Pharmacy!  By the way, if it’s for Father’s Day this year, be sure to get your order done by June 9, 2010 in order to ensure delivery by Father’s Day.

OR, bring your photos on a USB drive, CD, or memory card to a photo kiosk at CVS/Pharmacy and choose from things like an in-store photo book, Kodak Picture Movie DVD or collage. Create and take these home the same day, perfect for last-minute shoppers.

While I was in my local CVS/Pharmacy checking out photo gifts at their kiosk, I walked around and found some other smart gift ideas.  Always a hit, how about a gift card for popular retailers?  You’ll find a large selection.

I also found a grilling tools pack, a nice expandable cooler and many, many other things for your gifting pleasure.  And you’ll find many of them for under $30, too.

What have we learned?  Think CVS/Pharmacy for the usual, plus photo-related gift ideas online AND in the stores at the photo kiosk display, and stroll around to see what else there may be just perfect for the occasion.
