GE says it best – The washer talks, the dryer listens. The result is better clothes care for your hi-tech home.
Just imagine, save time and money because this washer/dryer pair communicates with each other, presetting dry cycles. The pair will be introduced in June and available for about $2,000.
GE calls it the Profile Harmony Clothes Care System, the first washer that communicates electronically to the dryer. Once the washer options are selected, there is no need to program the dryer. The washer delivers load information to the dryer PRESETTING dry cycles – it automatically determines which settings will deliver the best results. Just press “Start”. This is ingenious! Consumers who wish to select their own cycles and create custom cycles may use Harmony’s smart controls for total flexibility.
How did they do it? I was told that GE conducted research in consumers’ homes over a few years to learn family laundry habits and trends, resulting in the information needed to create these leading edge technologically superior products.
The result is Harmony, the largest-capacity laundry pair available – a king-size 4.0 cubic foot stainless steel washer basket to wash more per load so you can wash fewer loads per week. Its high spin speed of up to 1010 revolutions per minute means better water extraction for less dry time. According to GE, this does NOT mean sacrificing gentle clothes care.
GE told me Harmony’s washer delivers front load wash performance with top load convenience. Instead of an agitator, GE’s innovative new HydroWash system gently and thoroughly cleans clothes so they look new longer. It’s the newest washing science applied to the newest washer. If you remember your science, the centrifusion wash action using centrifugal forces gently pulls detergent solution throughout the clothing. A rotating basket and what GE calls an infusor provide gentle cleaning action resulting in less wear and tear on fabrics.
Awarded an Energy Star rating, the top load washer is miserly in its use of water. Water levels are matched to load size, so water and energy are saved. Harmony uses up to 40 percent less water than a traditional top load machine and 47 percent less energy.
Then, there is the Stain Inspector system to take the guesswork out of treating stains. According to GE, it offers more than 65 common stain problem selections and optimizes wash cycles based on stain type, fabric and garment color, making it the most comprehensive stain removal system available.
Making things even easier and more user-friendly, the Flow-Thru dispenser system releases the detergent, fabric softener, additives and bleach at just the right time so consumers don’t have to. Hooray! Even I can’t make a mistake with this delicate process. The timed dispensers are not only convenient, but provide optimum cleaning as well.
The dryer is no slouch, to be sure. The king-size 7.3 cubic foot stainless steel dryer drum handles king-sized items and family-size loads. The huge dryer opening is the largest in the industry, so loading AND unloading are easy.
Harmony’s dryer is the fastest premium dryer you can buy, says GE. Its DuoDry system quickly and consistently dries all types of clothes. Two motors maintain proper airflow and control tumbling action to ensure fast, even drying. Two electronic moisture sensors and two temperature sensors help prevent under or over drying. An extra low delicate temperature, which averages just 125 degrees, protects fine hand washables. The dryer delivers outstanding performance whether the venting system is very short or 150 feet long.
As you can see from the pictures, style is also an important element of Harmony’s appeal. As consumers continue to move their laundry into living spaces of the home, the elegant and unique Harmony pair feature trend-setting and unique design. There are curved, interchangeable control panels and state-of-the-art LCD touch screens and a see-through glass dryer door. I particularly like the new color – dark platinum.
