Can you resist that awesome, rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee and other coffee drinks? For many consumers, there is nothing to resist as this is just a part of waking up, whether at home or at a favorite shop on the way to work. Now, more than ever, the excellence and variety of coffee drinks can be created at home and in the office so easily that anyone can do it. Presenting the all-new Jura-Capresso ENA 5 Series automatic coffee center.
This is one smart gadget! From the time I opened the box and set it up, I knew I would be in for a treat. My family could hardly contain their delight at what was surely to come.
It’s small, at less than 9 and one half inches wide, a pleasant surprise because counter space is so often at a premium no matter where one may wish to deploy such a grand item. Our sample, an ENA 5, is a beautiful Coffee Cherry Red in color (on the sides), a rich and elegant look, to be sure. So continental. So clearly for the coffee enthusiast.
Beautiful, isn’t it?
Included in the box is everything needed to get started (except your favorite coffee) as well as an informative and instructional DVD. WATCH THE DVD! Oh, so that’s how it’s done! Yes, users will need to watch that DVD to learn the ins and outs of this fabulous machine. How does one make pressure-brewed coffee, latte, espresso, cappuccino, plus decaf, deliver plain hot water for soups and hot chocolate, adjust the strength, fill one or two cups simultaneously, or fill a larger cup with the equivalent of two cups of joe, and so on? Learn how to empty the spent grounds and the liquids tray.
Once taught, it really is a snap to deliver rich and flavorful coffee beverages, and that superb and rich crema coffee and espresso. All I can say is that it is amazing to be able to do this oneself, and so well and easily.
At less than 9 ½-inches wide, it is said to be the world’s slimmest automatic coffee center.
I did not want to hog the machine just for my family, so I decided it should get a round of use in the offices of the Mr. Gadget Webmaster at Morris & Casale Advertising. Now, there’s a bunch of coffee lovers! They’ve been enjoying the experience and I know I will have trouble wresting it away from them when it is time to send back this test unit.
On a recent visit to the offices, they walked me through what they love about this super gadget. Once they learned what to do and how to do it, they have been enjoying all the features, with something for every taste. I must say that the aroma upon entering the office is also spectacular. Also reported is that visiting clients have also loved the experience. These visitors have been impressed by not only the choices offered them, but also the results.
A rotary switch is at the heart of its ease-of-use. That switch determines what happens next, starting with 18 bars of pressure, a professional-grade conical burr grinder and completely automatic operation that grinds the fresh beans, pressure brews the coffee and then extracts the grounds to an internal receptacle, finishing off the process by self-cleaning – all in less than 60 seconds.
Cappuccinos and lattes are equally easy with two frothing options: the Dual Frother Plus (standard on all ENA) to froth like a barista and the patented frothXpress system (standard on ENA 5) that automatically steams or froths milk into the cup. The hot water dispenser can be used for Café Americano, instant hot chocolate or tea.
The unit is fully programmable, allowing for personalizing the amount, strength and the temperature of the coffee and the user-friendly rotary dial allows for overriding the program to prepare a special cup without affecting the permanent settings.
Up front is a three-color LCD alphanumeric display to confirm everything along the way. It lets the user know if it is ready to brew coffee (green display), is in programming mode (yellow) or requires special attention (red) like adding water.
Now, think about what it is you, your family or those in your office spend with a barista at a favorite coffee spot. From a couple of bucks to as much as five dollars per drink, plus the time it takes to make that stop on the way to the office. Contrast that with how easy it is to do it oneself at home or at the office, saving time and money. You know it is not out of the question for true coffee lovers to spend a tidy sum on the week’s, the month’s and then the year’s brews.
