I miss having dimmable home lighting where I have placed CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Lamps) around my home and office. Finally, they’re here from GE and priced from $5 – $12.
GE Energy Smart Energy Start-qualified dimmable spiral CFLs can be used with any standard household dimmer switch, dimming down to 20% of their full brightness.
Available in 15- and 26-watt bulbs, they replace 60-watt and 100-watt conventional incandescent bulbs. They offer energy savings coupled with quality and dimming features that we consumers have come to enjoy with those standard incandescent bulbs, too.
They will save the consumer time and money by lasting up to 10 limes longer than our old incandescent bulbs and consuming up to 75% less energy.
I’ve tried them. They work just fine, I’m happy to report.
You can find GE bulbs at most discount, grocery, home improvement, office supply, and super center stores.

CFLs are a good interim solution between the old incandescent lights and higher efficiency, more earth friendly lighting that is being developed for the future. Watch for LED (Light Emitting Diode) and OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology to ultimately replace CFLs as prices come down, efficiencies go up and solutions to today’s and tomorrow’s lighting needs are developed.
